2006: Darfur Relief and Genocide Awareness
In 2006, Charlotte Wright and Michaela Tracy organized their peers to participate in Halloween for Heroes to benefit those left injured or displaced by the genocide in Darfur. Needham High students also raised awareness in their community of the atrocities that were (and still are) occuring in Sudan, a critical international issue that was (and still is) often overlooked. Funds raised went directly to the International Rescue Commitee's fund for rescue programs in Sudan. Unfortunately, inconceivable evil is still occuring in the Sudan today and the international media neglects to shed light on this important issue. To learn more about the genocide still occuring in the Sudan go to: http://www.savedarfur.org.
